The beatification of Father Nazareno Lanciotti, scheduled for this Saturday (13), in Jauru (MT), should increase the flow of visitors and place the municipality on the Catholic religious tourism route. The ceremony will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sanctuary and will be the first beatification in the state.
Thousands of faithful are expected to participate, with an impact on sectors such as hotels, food, commerce and services.
Born in Subiaco, Italy, Father Nazareno Lanciotti worked in Jauru (MT) from 1972 onwards, where he founded the Nossa Senhora do Pilar Parish and became known for his evangelizing and social work. He reported crimes such as exploitation of minors, prostitution and drug trafficking. He was murdered in 2001 after being shot at home.

The ceremony will be presided over by Cardinal Dom João Braz de Aviz, archbishop emeritus of Brasília, who will represent Pope Leo XIV. Representatives of the Catholic Church from other countries and different Brazilian states are also expected.
With the beatification, Jauru began to be identified as a pilgrimage destination. Among the places linked to Lanciotti's career are the church where he worked, the memorial in his honor, the residence where he lived and the municipality's seminary.
The organization of the event envisages the structuring of a visitation route associated with the priest's trajectory, with the potential to increase the tourist flow throughout the year.
