The World Cup atmosphere has already taken over Taquari. But, in the city of Vale do Taquari, the expectation for the competition has a special reason: one of those responsible for the behind-the-scenes of the Brazilian team was born in the city. Residents, students and family members participated in a tribute to Cícero Souza, current general manager of the Brazilian team, from Taquari.
The event took place on Wednesday afternoon (10) and brought together activities such as street painting and trading cards, as well as moments of recognition for the professional career he built in football.

Cícero left Taquari in 2006 to pursue a career in the sports field. Since then, he has played for clubs such as Grêmio, Sport Recife, Criciúma, Bahia and Palmeiras before arriving at the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
For just over two years at CBF, he has served as general manager of the men's teams, from the under-15 category to the main team. Among the responsibilities of the position are the integration between the technical committee, athletes and different departments of the entity.
According to Cícero, the experience accumulated throughout his career was fundamental for him to reach the position.
"I believe that our arrival here was very much based on our 10 years at Palmeiras, where, thank God, 14 great achievements provided a strong foundation for our professional trajectory", he stated.

Although he works behind the scenes, the recognition for the professional was evident during the tribute held in his hometown. His mother, Teresinha Rosa de Souza, was moved when talking about the mobilization of residents.
"When I spoke to him, I said: 'My son, how loved you are throughout the city'. I'm very proud and I'm very grateful," he declared.
His father, Antonio de Souza, also highlighted his son's dedication throughout his career. "This is the result of his focus, dedication and constant fight," he said.
Even from a distance, following the Brazilian team's preparations for the World Cup, Cícero received the expressions of affection sent by his fellow countrymen.
"I'm very happy that within my community there can be all this mobilization for the World Cup and all this euphoria with the start of the biggest football competition in the world," he said.
The tribute also included the participation of students from the municipal network. Among them were Alice da Costa Duarte and Carolina Terezinha da Silva Pereira, both 10 years old, who showed confidence in the team's performance. “The hexa is coming”, summarized Carolina.
While the crowd grows on the streets of Taquari, Cícero continues working behind the scenes to ensure that the Brazilian team has the best possible structure during the competition. "We are very confident in having the best World Cup possible," he said.
