She defines herself as someone deeply guided by family and faith in God. "I'm a wife, mother, daughter and someone who really believes in work, discipline and perseverance", says the commander, who sees relationships built throughout life as the foundation for facing the challenges of the profession. Balance in your stride In a high-pressure routine, sport appears as an essential escape valve. Passionate about running, Gabriella uses the sport to maintain the physical and emotional balance necessary to manage a strategic troop. For her, practicing sports is an integral part of her care routine and preparation for command. A mind in constant formation Gabriella Fernandes took over the MS battalion. In addition to having a degree in Public Security, the lieutenant colonel has a degree in Law and Social Communication. His search for knowledge also extends to postgraduate studies in areas such as Traffic, Advertising and Propaganda, demonstrating a multidisciplinary vision that he applies to public management. Inspiration for new generations Gabriella's story at PMMS began early: she passed the exam at age 17 and took up the position as soon as she turned 18. Today, by occupying a historic position, she hopes that her presence will serve as an example for other girls. "I know that many girls and women follow my path and are inspired by it. This makes me happy, because I believe that representation opens doors", highlights the commander, reinforcing her maxim that respect is earned through work and that no barrier is insurmountable for those who are dedicated. From Brasília to the top of the hierarchy: a career of milestones Gabriella's career in the Military Police is defined by a succession of challenges overcome and rigorous technical preparation. Entry into the career, in 2009, occurred during a period of institutional transition: at the time, access for women was restricted by a quota system, and she had to win one of only five vacancies allocated to women in a universe of 50 available positions. Furthermore, as Mato Grosso do Sul did not yet have its own police academy, its basic training was carried out in Brasília, between 2009 and 2011. Over almost 18 years in the corporation, it built a diversified "baggage" that underpins its current management Gabriella worked in different sectors and units, accumulating experience from commanding the Aero Rancho platoon to strategic stints in the PM's Social Communication, the 9th BPM and BPMTran, where she served as deputy commander. Before taking over the largest battalion in the interior, in Dourados, she also served as deputy director of teaching, instruction and research, in addition to commanding the 14th Battalion in Fátima do Sul.
