In reference to “Green June”, Cresol Integração is carrying out several spring restorations. One of the protections took place on the property of cooperative members Acir Mendes and Janete Aparecida Braz de Oliveira, located between the municipalities of Guaraniaçu and Diamante do Sul, in Paraná. The initiative is part of the program developed by the Cresol System, through the Central Cresol Baser, which provides for the protection of more than 300 springs across the country by the end of the year. Beneficiary members participate in the Rural Entrepreneurship Program, which strengthens property management through specialized technical assistance. Professionals support producers in making decisions, improving productivity and adopting sustainable practices. Protection actions include fencing areas, adequate soil management and restoration of native vegetation around sources, essential measures to ensure conservation and water recharge. "Cresol is also committed to the environment and the communities where it is present. In partnership with the Rural Entrepreneurship program, we are protecting springs through the Nascentes Vivas project. The initiative foresees the recovery of 300 water sources in the area where our plant operates, 20 of which are here in the Cresol Integração area. It is very important work, because it protects natural resources, guarantees water quality and reinforces something we all know: water is life", says Renato Morais, vice-president of Cresol Integração. For cooperative members, recovery represents a direct impact on property and production. "I have been a member of Cresol for eight years. Our family works in baking, as well as producing vegetables. This spring has been part of our property for many years and we have been using this water for around ten years. Even during periods of drought, it has never stopped supplying water. Therefore, the protection of this spring is very important for us. It is an action that helps preserve the water and guarantees even better quality for our work, especially in baking, where the quality of the water makes all the difference. We are very happy to count on Cresol's support in this project", says Janete. The springs supply rivers, streams and reservoirs and guarantee water for human consumption, agricultural production and preservation of biodiversity. In Paraná, initiatives to protect these resources have been developed for more than two decades. Data from the State Government indicate that more than 2,500 rural springs have already been registered and protected, reinforcing the importance of the work for the water security of properties and for coping with dry periods.
