The repercussions of the strike are also felt in health units and other municipal services.
According to the union, the main demand is the replacement of inflation accumulated since the last salary adjustment, granted in 2024. The employees are asking for a 9.43% increase in salaries.
This Wednesday (10), the category decided to maintain the strike after rejecting the proposal presented by the city hall during an assembly held on Avenida do Povo.
The city hall proposed an adjustment of 2.5%, with application scheduled for next year, a proposal that was not accepted by the workers.
Last week, the Court ordered that at least 70% of employees remain active during the strike to guarantee the continuity of essential services.
City hall and the union are expected to meet again next Monday (15), in a conciliation hearing scheduled by the courts, in an attempt to reach an agreement and end the movement.

Proposal rejected
This Thursday morning (11), in a meeting, public employees rejected the salary adjustment proposal made by City Hall.
The proposal had been put on the table by the Executive in a meeting with the Municipal Servers Union on Wednesday (10). The meeting lasted more than eight hours.
At the meeting, City Hall proposed a 2.5% adjustment to the 2026 salary reference to take effect from 2027. In addition, an Executive bill to increase food vouchers for employees is also being processed in the City Council.

The strike
The strike began on June 2nd and impacts public services, mainly in the areas of Health and Education. The category demands a salary increase of 9.43%, a percentage referring to the inflation accumulated since 2024, when the last adjustment was granted to employees.
Since the beginning of negotiations, City Hall has stated that it is facing financial difficulties and defends the construction of a proposal compatible with the limits of the municipal budget.
This week, the Court had rejected a request from City Hall to increase the daily fine applied to the Union for alleged non-compliance with the decision that determined the maintenance of at least 70% of the workforce during the strike.
Taubaté server strike began on Tuesday (2).
