She died late last Wednesday afternoon (10), at Santa Isabel Hospital, after the motorcycle she was riding was hit by a truck on MG-447, in Ubá. According to the victim's sister, Andressa Aparecida, behind the health professional's coat was a story of a lot of struggle and dreams. Mother of four children and grandmother of one child, Élida was the central pillar of her family. "She was an excellent professional, super mother, hard-working. She almost always struggled alone to raise her children. Among her biggest desires was to have resources to travel, according to her sister. Dedication to public health Élida worked at Ubá Epidemiological Surveillance. Also a nursing technician, Geane Vidal Nicácio, described her co-worker as an exemplary professional and a dedicated mother. "She was a kind, hard-working person, an exemplary professional, an incomparable mother and a present sister. She worked hard to take care of her children. I have nothing but praise for her," said Geane. Élida's death caused a strong commotion among employees of the Municipal Health Department. In an official note, the City of Ubá expressed deep regret and offered solidarity to her family: "Ubá City Hall and the Municipal Health Department deeply regret the death of public servant Élida Teixeira Silva. We express our condolences to her family, friends and co-workers at this time of immense pain." According to the Military Highway Police (PMRv), the truck driver reported that he was heading in the direction of Ubá to Visconde do Rio Branco when a vehicle in front braked suddenly. When trying to avoid hitting the rear, he entered the oncoming lane. During the attempt to return to his own lane, the truck's body hit the side of a motorcycle that was coming in the opposite direction. The truck driver was not injured. He took a breathalyzer test, which did not indicate alcohol consumption. The incident was recorded and forwarded to the Civil Police for investigation.
