The search for a 50-year-old man missing in a dense forest area in the Marajó archipelago entered its sixth day this Wednesday (11). To reinforce the operation, a team from the Fire Department was sent from Belém to the municipality of Anajás.
The military arrived in the region by helicopter and continued to the town of Barro Preto, located almost an hour by boat from the municipality's headquarters. The operation takes place in an area that is difficult to access and is supported by drones and a sniffer dog.
According to firefighters, the technology will be used to expand the scope of searches and assist in locating possible traces of the missing person.
The man was last seen on Saturday (6), when he entered the forest and did not return. Since then, family, friends and residents of the region have eagerly followed the work of the rescue teams.
In addition to the firefighters' work, the local community also mobilized to help with the search. Groups of volunteers walk trails in the forest in search of clues, while other residents collect food to support the teams that remain in the search area throughout the day.
