The festivities will take place in Pelourinho, Santo Antônio Além do Carmo and Carmo, between the 19th and 24th of June. Operation São João 2026 will have more than 27 thousand security agents The Government of Bahia announced, this Thursday (11), Operation São João 2026, a special security scheme that will take place during the festivities of Santo Antônio, São João and São Pedro throughout the state. With an investment of R$45 million, the action will involve more than 27 thousand professionals, technological reinforcement and integrated action from several public bodies. According to the state government, the operation will be carried out in 283 municipalities in Bahia, including 271 cities in the interior and 12 locations in Salvador and the Metropolitan Region (RMS). In the capital of Bahia, the festivities will have special attention in traditional areas of June celebrations, such as Pelourinho, Santo Antônio Além do Carmo, Paripe and Periperi. The workforce will be made up of 22,785 military police officers, 1,377 civil police officers, 414 experts, 2,583 military firefighters and 153 SSP employees. The majority of the contingent will be employed in the interior of the state, where the main June festivities will take place. There will be 17,025 professionals working in interior cities. In Salvador, the workforce will have 6,204 agents, while another 4,083 will work in the Metropolitan Region. Operation São João will have technological support and, according to the government, 2,800 video surveillance cameras will be used throughout the party venues, 711 of which will be equipped with facial recognition technology. The scheme will also feature 104 drones, 39 of which feature thermal technology for monitoring low-light areas. In addition, three new helicopters will be used in aerial patrolling and operational support actions. The technological apparatus also includes 608 metal detectors and 1,500 LTE radios, used to expand communication between security teams. Integrated Center will bring together 20 bodies Between June 19th and 24th, the Integrated Command and Control Center (CICC) will operate, responsible for monitoring and coordinating actions during the busiest period of the festivities. The space will bring together representatives from 20 state, federal and municipal agencies. Furthermore, 19 Integrated Communications Centers (Cicoms) will be activated in strategic cities in the state: Alagoinhas, Barreiras, Euclides da Cunha, Feira de Santana, Guanambi, Irecê, Itaberaba, Itabuna, Jequié, Juazeiro, Paulo Afonso, Porto Seguro, Santa Maria da Vitória, Santo Antônio de Jesus, Senhor do Bonfim, Serrinha, Teixeira de Freitas and Vitória da Conquista. To reinforce the performance of security forces, 363 operational structures will be installed throughout the state. Of this total, 273 will be in the interior, 62 in the metropolitan region of Salvador and 28 in the capital. The structures include Special Area Police Stations (DEAs), Troop Assembly Stations, Approach Portals and Elevated Observation Posts, which assist in monitoring large concentrations of the public. The government also delivered 13 Elevated Observation Platforms (POEs), which will be used in 31 municipalities in the interior. In total, 24 cities will benefit during the festivities of Santo Antônio, São João and São Pedro. Prevention and care During the June period, an Integrated Post of the Violence Prevention Superintendence (Sprev) will operate in Santo Antônio de Jesus, one of the main destinations in São João in Bahia. The structure will be available between June 19th and 24th. The SSP will also carry out public satisfaction surveys through a team of 12 employees. Another front of action will take place in the Historic Center of Salvador. As part of the actions announced for Operation São João, the Government of Bahia delivered new vehicles to the security forces. 39 vehicles were made available for the Civil Police and five vehicles for the Technical Police Department (DPT), with the aim of expanding service capacity during the festivities.
