According to a still provisional report, the landslide which occurred on Monday June 8 left at least 11 dead, as well as several injured and many missing. This type of disaster is not uncommon in Upper Guinea where West African nationals take considerable risks to exploit abandoned artisanal mines at the risk of their lives in the hope of finding gold.
