DF fans travel to watch World Cup games Employees of street stores and shopping malls in the Federal District will be released from work early on the days when the Brazilian team takes the field at the 2026 World Cup. The agreement was reached between the Trade Union (which represents workers) and Sindivarejista (which represents businesspeople) and is only valid for the games in Brazil. In the first phase of the competition, Brazil's games will take place at night according to Brasília time. Therefore, workers will be released one hour before the start of the match – and will not return after the final whistle (see below for the exact rules). The agreement also provides for the release of employees if Brazil advances to the "knockout" phase of the competition. In this case, the rules already provide for two scenarios: one for afternoon games and another for evening games.
