The research proposes alternatives to conventional MDF, used in the furniture and construction industry, through the use of arumã fibers and biodegradable resins. The achievement was received with enthusiasm by the students, who highlighted the effort and relevance of the initiative.
"Obtaining second place in a national science fair is a significant event for me as a high school student. It is an achievement that shows my effort and the possibility of representing the state of Amapá", said Kamilo Ernesto.
In addition to scientific recognition, the young people highlighted the environmental impact of the research and the potential for inspiration for other students and teachers in the region.
"I hope that this project, in addition to helping our planet, inspires students and teachers in our state to develop research and take care of the environment. When we look around, what we can see is a society that is expanding and increasingly in need of resources. And often it is not done in an adequate way. So it is with great pride that an alternative can come out here in our state", said Maria Beatrice.

The team's trajectory was also remembered as a fundamental part of the achievement. The students participated in different fairs before reaching the national stage and were surprised by the results.
"It was really great to participate in this project of ours, to have participated in three fairs, and to have also gained a credential outside of Brazil. In addition to it being a lot of fun to do this work and a great experience, we didn't expect this result, it was really a surprise for us", said Davi Moura.

The project was developed under the guidance of Chemistry teacher Dayana Batista, who encouraged students to transform a relevant environmental issue into a concrete scientific solution.
"This award recognizes not only the scientific quality of the work, but also the commitment of the students throughout the research process. For us, it is a source of great pride to see young people from the Amazon and Amapá producing science, innovating and taking the name of Santana and Amapá to national and international events", he said.
