The man accused of dragging his ex-partner strapped into a seat belt from a moving car was sentenced to 12 years and six months in closed prison by the 1st Jury Court of Belo Horizonte. The trial was held this Monday (8). Now on g1 Remember the case The crime occurred on August 8, 2025, in the Taquaril neighborhood, in the Eastern Region of Belo Horizonte. According to the Public Ministry's complaint, the victim, a municipal school teacher, was threatened with a knife by her ex-partner and forced to get into a car. During the journey, as she passed close to a Military Police unit, the woman tried to escape from the moving vehicle. She was trapped in her seat belt, with part of her body hanging out of the car. According to the accusation, the driver continued driving and the victim was dragged across the asphalt, suffering bruises on his body. The woman managed to free herself and call for help. Military police officers who were in the region provided assistance. Suspect fled and was arrested After the victim escaped, the man abandoned the car and fled into a wooded area. A criminal police officer who was passing by helped with the pursuit. The suspect was located and arrested shortly after. Since then, he has responded to the case in the Minas Gerais court. Victim also faced impacts at work In addition to the attacks, the teacher reported consequences in her professional life after the crime. Colleagues even sent a complaint to Belo Horizonte City Hall alleging concern about the safety of the school where she worked, as the attacker knew her routine and the location.
