Isabelly was attacked on the afternoon of May 22, 2024, while going to the gym. A woman approached her, threw the liquid — which police later discovered was caustic soda — and fled. At the time of the crime, the suspect was wearing a wig and loose clothes. Watch above. The young woman was approached at Alameda Padre Magno, in the central region of Jacarezinho. In a video recorded by a surveillance camera, the victim appears running in search of help after being hit. A barber saw Isabelly asking for help, put her in the car and took her to the hospital. After the attack, a witness found a black bag and a cup, which were wet. The material was collected for analysis. Débora was arrested by the Military Police two days after the attack. Meanwhile, Marlon was already arrested for cell phone theft. According to the Public Ministry, analysis of data from Débora's cell phone revealed that Marlon planned the crime. According to the complaint, even though he was arrested, he planned the crime and convinced Débora to join the plan and attack Isabelly. Since then, Marlon has been preventively detained in the Londrina State Penitentiary and Débora is in the Santo Antônio da Platina Public Prison. The two were denounced by the Public Ministry (MP-PR) on June 7, 2024. On May 16, 2025, the Court decided that they would be submitted to the popular jury. What did they say in testimony? In the document to which g1 had access, Marlon and Débora confessed to the crime in a statement given during the process. Marlon admitted that he planned the crime with Débora. He said that the objective was to "scare" Isabelly, as she was supposedly passing by the jail during visiting hours and mocking Débora. According to the document, Débora carried out the attack and threw the caustic soda at Isabelly. She said in her statement that Marlon bought the material before he was arrested and did research on the product. The accused also said that he instructed her to disguise herself at the time of the attack. “He wanted to throw the soda at her to make her ugly,” said Débora, in the statement. What will the trial be like? Based on the evidence and statements gathered, judge Renato Garcia understood that there was an attempted feminicide. What do the defenses of the accused say? To g1, lawyer Tatiane Souza Paiva, who works in Marlon's defense, said that the case has no elements that characterize attempted femicide and is confident that the trial will take place based on the evidence in the file. "Marlon Ferreira Lemes' defense reaffirms that there is no reliable evidence in the case file capable of demonstrating that the accused ordered, participated or contributed to the facts narrated in the complaint. Furthermore, it maintains that the case does not bring together elements that characterize attempted femicide, with no demonstration of intention to kill, a circumstance that will be duly debated before the Jury Court. The defense trusts that the trial will take place based exclusively on the evidence produced in the case file, in respect for due process law and the presumption of innocence", said lawyer Tatiane Souza Paiva. In a note to g1, lawyer Jean Campos, who works in Débora's defense, said that the trial will be an opportunity to report the physical, psychological and emotional violence she suffered over the years, in addition to a history of abuse and aggression committed by Marlon. He also said that, during the process, the client obtained a protective measure against her ex. "The defense welcomes the approach of the trial with ease, as it will be the opportunity for Débora to report, before the Sentencing Council, all the physical, psychological and emotional violence she has suffered over the years, culminating in the facts that will be analyzed by the Jury Court. The defense believes that the Sentencing Council will decide based on the evidence in the case file and will recognize that Débora was also a victim of Marlon, subjected for a long period to a cycle of violence from which she found no effective protection, even after situations that were already known to the competent authorities.
