The intensive verticalization of the Santos waterfront began in the 1940s, especially after the construction of the canals. The buildings began to take the place of the typical mansions that were located in front of the beach, such as the Pinacoteca de Santos.
In the video excerpt, part of the properties mentioned follow the architectural concept of modernism, a movement present at the time. One of the buildings highlighted is the Indaiá building, designed by architects Hélio Duarte and Ernest Mange.

Built between 1952 and 1956, the condominium gained recognition due to the curved slab on the ground floor, which became known as the “whale”. The space housed restaurants and currently operates a nightclub.
Another symbol of modernism on the city's edge is the Parque Verde Mar building, by architect João Artacho Jurado. Also built in the 1950s, the building draws attention due to its free facade, absence of pillars and a garden roof.

Listed by the influencer as the most beautiful building on the waterfront, Residencial Jacarandá was built in the 1980s. Designed by architect Federico Antezana Mendez, the building is located on land that was sold by Santa Casa de Santos.
The facade of the building draws attention because the apartments maintain a cohesive language, creating the sensation of interspersed “suspended houses”. The property has 14 units, one per floor, which stand out for their large space.
