Iran brought the military escalation back to the forefront by launching missiles towards Israel for the first time since the ceasefire in April, saying that the attack was in response to the Israeli bombing of the southern suburb of Beirut. While Israel confirmed the interception of all missiles and pledged to continue its operations in Lebanon, US President Donald Trump was quick to call on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to respond, warning that the current tension may hinder reaching an expected agreement between Washington and Tehran, at a time when developments prompted Iraq, Syria and Iran to impose restrictions on air traffic and close parts of their airspace.
