A major accident took place on Kedarnath pedestrian route on Friday afternoon. A horse handler died while a passenger from Rajasthan was seriously injured when a stone suddenly fell from a hill near the Cheerbasa helipad. The accident occurred at around 3 pm near Chirbasa helipad, about three kilometers ahead of Gaurikund. It was told that suddenly stones started rolling from the hill, due to which the horse rider and a passenger got hit. As soon as the information was received, the team of Police, DDRF, District Administration and Aapda Mitras reached the spot. Relief and rescue operations were started and the injured passenger was sent to Gaurikund Hospital for treatment. Horse handler died on the spot In the accident, 23-year-old Devesh Singh, resident of Badasu village of Rudraprayag district, died on the spot. He used to work as a horse rider on the Kedarnath Yatra route. He did not get a chance to recover as he was hit by the stones. Passenger from Rajasthan The injured passenger admitted in the hospital has been identified as Vishnu, a resident of Rajasthan. After the accident, he was immediately evacuated from the spot and taken to Gaurikund Hospital for treatment. Considering his condition, he has been kept under medical observation. Police, DDRF and Aapda Mitras took charge. As soon as information about the incident was received, teams of police, DDRF, district administration and Aapda Mitras reached the spot. The teams conducted relief and rescue operations and took the injured safely to the hospital and controlled the situation. The administration is maintaining surveillance on sensitive parts of the yatra route. In view of the weather conditions and the danger of falling stones from the hills, travelers are being advised to remain constantly alert.
