The families of the 1978 riot victims of Sambhal are being settled on 3 bighas of land of the vacated cemetery. On Thursday, the family of riot victim Ramsharan Rastogi was given a lease of 100 square meters of land. Minister JPS Rathore said- Today I have come to wipe the tears of those whose houses were burnt in Sambhal 48 years ago. Who knows how many generations were spent waiting. India became independent in 1947. But in true sense Sambhal has become free today. Before this, Minister in-charge JPS Rathore gave the certificate of leased land to Rukmini, daughter-in-law of Ramsharan Rastogi. The minister also performed Bhoomi Pujan of the land along with Rukmini and her son Kapil. The land vacated from the graveyard is near the mounded mosque in Sher Khan Sarai village of Kotwali area. Moradabad Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh, DM Ankit Khandelwal and SP Krishna Kumar Bishnoi were also present in the program. CM had said - Will resettle the riot victims. On April 7, in Mathura, CM Yogi had said that hundreds of Hindus were killed in the 1978 riots in Sambhal. Out of fear, people fled to other cities including Delhi. If the affected families bring their land papers, they will be given their land back. I will get them possession of their land.
