A man in his 50s who went around construction sites and stole wires was caught by the police after a citizen's report. On the 16th, the Yangju Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that it had arrested and sent a man in his 50s on charges of theft. This man is accused of stealing wires worth 1 million won on three occasions while visiting construction sites and other sparsely populated places around Yangju City from August of last year to March of this year. The police identified locations where the man frequently appeared and conducted an undercover and interrogation investigation. Meanwhile, a tip was received from a store owner that “the man had been there.” Accordingly, the police asked the store owner to report it immediately if he saw the man again. A few days later, the store owner found the man waiting for a bus at a nearby bus stop. The store owner immediately called 112 and also relayed the bus the man was on and the direction of travel. The police dispatched to the scene chased the bus, stopped it, and arrested the man. It was found that the man had only separated the copper from the wire and sold it to a scrap dealer. The police arrested the store owner who helped lead to the arrest.
