The working-level meeting of the bipartisan National Assembly has agreed in principle to introduce a new system in fiscal 2029 that provides income-linked benefits regarding tax credits with benefits. On the other hand, there is no prospect that the gap between each party's views on the consumption tax reduction for food items will be bridged, and some within the ruling party say that Prime Minister Takaichi's decision is needed.
