The profligacy of the successive governments has been a key factor that contributed to the very tight fiscal situation in Tamil Nadu. In the name of welfarism, they have been overindulgent in disbursing freebies. Unfortunately, the TVK too does not seem to have learnt any lesson from the experiences of its predecessors.
