Ruling and Opposition Council confirms policy to reach conclusion on House of Representatives election system reform in September

The ruling and opposition parties, which are considering fundamental reforms to the electoral system, have confirmed that while deliberations on a bill to reduce the number of members of the House of Representatives have been postponed in the current Diet session, they will proceed with discussions and aim to reach a conclusion by September, when the final census figures will be made public.
