Foreign Minister Motegi on the South China Sea: “Continuing communication with the Chinese side is important”

With regard to territorial rights in the South China Sea, China is refusing to accept the judgment of an international arbitral tribunal and is increasingly opposing Japan and other countries that demand compliance. Foreign Minister Motegi stated that the arbitral tribunal's judgment is final and emphasized the importance of continuing to communicate calmly and appropriately with the Chinese side.
