A bill to revise the Imperial House Law was passed by the House of Representatives on July 10th. In order to secure the number of members of the imperial family, the two pillars of the proposed amendment are to allow female members of the imperial family to remain in the imperial family after marriage, and to allow male lineage males from the former imperial family to be adopted. We have summarized the current state of the imperial family and the perceptions of former members of the imperial family.
