Mongolian air routes through domestic local airports are expanding. The number of flights on the Incheon-Ulaanbaatar route will also increase. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 10th that at the Korea-Mongolia aviation summit held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on the 23rd and 24th of last month, an agreement was reached to expand the Mongolian route transportation rights of local airports and the supply of the Incheon-Ulaanbaatar route. Previously, routes from domestic local airports to Mongolia could only be operated at Ulaanbaatar Airport, but now they will be able to operate to all airports in Mongolia. The number of flights will increase from 24 to 35 times a week. On the Incheon-Ulaanbaatar route, the number of flights during the peak season from June to September will increase from 22 times a week to 24 times a week, and the number of seats will increase from 6,000 to 6,500 seats a week. In the off-peak season from October to May of the following year, the number of seats increases from 12 to 14 times a week, and from 3,350 to 3,850 seats per week. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the number of passengers traveling between Korea and Mongolia last year was 780,000, an increase of about 90% from 2019 (410,000). As the route expands, domestic demand for summer travel to Mongolia increases, and Mongolians travel to Korea and study abroad.
