Mayor of Fukuoka: “When I was running for office, a council member asked for money and I refused, but I was shocked.”

Amid the controversy over whether money was given or received for the post of chairman of the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly, Mayor Takashima of Fukuoka City recalled that when he decided to run for mayor in 2010, he was asked for 50 million yen by a member of the council.``I clearly refused, but I was very shocked,'' he said.
