The Ukrainian military attacked an oil refinery in the Russian rear, more than 2,500 km from the border, with a drone. According to foreign media such as the Associated Press and Ukrainian media Gwara Media on the 6th (local time), a Ukrainian long-range drone struck Russia's largest oil refinery located in Omsk, southern West Siberia. Ukraine described this attack as one of the longest-range strikes targeting deep into Russian territory since the all-out war. The Omsk oil refinery is a key facility owned by Russian oil company Gazpromneft. The annual crude oil refining capacity is known to be 21 to 22 million tons. It is the largest facility among Russia's major oil refineries, and has played an important role in the Russian military's fuel supply and energy profits. Authorities in Russia's Omsk Oblast confirmed the drone threat and the fact that it was shot down. Omsk Region Governor Vitaly Khochenko said that some drones had reached industrial areas in northern Omsk. The specific amount of damage to the oil refinery was not disclosed. Ukraine's side established the oil refinery based on publicly available videos and photos.
