“I wanted a safe place to live.” International criminal organization leader re-arrested

A 44-year-old suspect, believed to be an executive of a Cambodian conglomerate that has been sanctioned by the US authorities as ``one of Asia's largest international criminal organizations,'' was re-arrested for fraudulently handing over his Japanese residence card to another person and having them go through the procedures at a ward office in Tokyo.It was learned that the suspect told investigators, ``I felt in danger and wanted a safe place to live.'' The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the possibility that he may have intended to live permanently in Japan.
