The Democratic Party of Korea's August 17th national convention is escalating beyond a competition over political routes into a competition over traditional lines. As former Representative Chung Cheong-rae, who made official his bid for a second term, emphasized his ties with former President Roh Moo-hyun day after day and showed that he was the right candidate for the Democratic Party, Representative Song Young-gil claimed, “Former Representative Jeong turned his back on former President Roh and could not even attend the funeral.” Former Representative Jeong immediately protested, saying, “This is a 100% spread of false information.” Rep. Song plans to visit former President Roh's gravesite in Bongha Village, Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do on the 30th. Rep. Song continued, "If you ask about Roh Moo-hyun's identity to attack Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, I don't know about anyone else, but at least former Representative Jeong won't be able to do that." He added, "We all have a common responsibility for not being able to protect (former) President Roh. If anyone starts picking on that, the people will turn against them."
