NHK analyzed approximately 50 cases of so-called "nursing care murders" that took place across the country over the past five years, in which family members lost their lives due to fatigue from caring for others, and found that more than 70% of the perpetrators who provided care or assistance suffered from physical and mental health problems. Furthermore, only one in three people consulted their family members or caregivers before the incident, and experts point out that ``support for caregivers needs to be expanded.''
