Return after years without a party
Alzirão was held again this year after a series of impasses involving the release of the event. Initially confirmed, the meeting was canceled by the organization due to lack of necessary authorizations.
Days later, Rio City Hall reported that, after a meeting with municipal bodies and the Military Police, the party was authorized.

The return also marked the return of a tradition that did not happen in 2022 due to a lack of sponsors. With 48 years of history, Alzirão is one of the best-known meeting points for fans during the World Cups and usually brings together thousands of people in Tijuca during the Brazilian team's games.
This year, the street once again received flags, themed decoration, banners, big screens and free programming for the public.
More than 10 thousand people at the premiere
According to the organizers, more than 10 thousand people passed through Alzirão during Brazil's debut in the World Cup. The event had to be set up in just 48 hours after final approval from public bodies, but it brought together thousands of fans, families and residents of the region.
"Alzirão is a cultural manifestation, a creation of Rio people, which fuels passion, renews hope and promotes the city to the world. Seeing this street once again taken over by families and fans was exciting. The success of the debut shows how much this tradition is part of the history of Rio de Janeiro", said Humberto Maioli, director of Alzirão.
Alzirão's story began during the 1978 World Cup. At the time, a group of friends were watching a Brazilian team game when a celebration ended up causing damage inside a residence on Rua Alzira Brandão.
Expelled from the house, the friends improvised a television on the sidewalk to continue watching the match. The meeting was repeated in the following World Cups, grew, gained structure and ended up becoming one of the most traditional street parties linked to football in Rio.
Today, Alzirão brings together different generations of fans and is considered one of the symbols of the World Cups in the city, maintaining the spirit of fraternization that marked its origins almost five decades ago.
