The memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran must be formally signed this Friday, June 19 in Switzerland. Its contents have not been officially revealed, but a version of this text was published in the press. This presents a fourteen-point plan. It notably provides for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the establishment of a private fund of 300 billion dollars, and a thaw of Iranian assets abroad. Concerning the Iranian nuclear program – which had been for the United States and Israel the justification for this war – Iran renews a commitment not to acquire the atomic bomb. How is this agreement received in the Gulf monarchies, countries allied with the United States which found themselves on the front lines of Iranian reprisals? Interview with Akram Zaoui, associate researcher at ORF Middle East, a think tank based in Dubai.
