The councilors of São Sebastião (SP) rejected, this Tuesday (16), the City Hall's accounts for the 2022 financial year, during the administration of former mayor Felipe Augusto (PSDB).
The decision followed the opinion of the Chamber's Finance and Budget Committee, which recommended rejection and followed the understanding of the São Paulo State Court of Auditors (TCE-SP).
Among the irregularities highlighted are expenses of more than R$3.5 million on advertising made due to exemption from bidding, as well as failures to prove expenses for official travel and the use of parliamentary amendments.

During the session, the 12 councilors voted to reject the bills. For approval, at least eight votes in favor would be required.
In a defense sent to the Chamber, the former mayor stated that the constitutional standards were met and that the irregularities highlighted were only formal, without serious enough to justify the rejection of the accounts.
Rede Vanguarda tried to contact Felipe Augusto's defense and is awaiting a response. The report will be updated if the politician or lawyers speak out.
