Taubaté servers have been on strike since June 2nd. Cíntia Garcia/Rede Vanguarda Taubaté's municipal employees will hold, this Wednesday (17), a new assembly to discuss the direction of the category's strike, which began on June 2. The meeting is scheduled for 2:30 pm. The new assembly was defined by the workers after the category rejected, in a vote held this Tuesday (16), the proposal presented by Taubaté City Hall during the salary campaign negotiations. With the decision, employees chose to maintain the strike, which has impacted public services in the municipality for more than two weeks. ✅ Click here to follow the g1 Vale do Paraíba and region channel on WhatsApp Municipal employees decide to maintain strike in Taubaté The municipal administration's proposal provides for a 2.5% salary adjustment, to be applied from May 2027, in addition to increasing food vouchers from the current R$502.50 to R$844.50 from September this year. Workers, however, demand a salary recovery of 9.43%, a percentage that, according to the category, corresponds to the inflationary losses accumulated since 2024. The rejection of the proposal occurred one day after a conciliation hearing held in court between representatives of the city hall and the Union of Workers of the Municipal Public Service of Taubaté ended without an agreement. During the meeting held this Tuesday, union representatives stated that the proposal presented by the municipality does not meet the demands of the category and defended the continuity of negotiations. The expectation is that this Wednesday's assembly will evaluate the scenario after the rejection of the proposal and define the next steps of the strike movement. Taubaté City Hall reported that negotiations with public servants are open. See more news from Vale do Paraíba and the Bragantina region
