Monte Verde, district of Camanducaia (MG), dawned covered in frost this Wednesday (17), after recording an average minimum temperature of 0.4°C, according to data from local meteorological stations. The intense cold left a typical winter scenario in the Serra da Mantiqueira region.
According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), frost is characterized by the formation of ice crystals on exposed surfaces and is identified by visual observation. The phenomenon usually occurs when temperatures fall below 5°C, especially during early mornings with clear skies and light winds.
Monte Verde is among the most popular tourist destinations at this time of year precisely because of the low temperatures and the possibility of frost.

Weather forecast
A new cold front should cause changes in the weather in Minas Gerais starting next weekend. According to the forecast, the system advances through the Southeast between Saturday (20) and Sunday (21), increasing cloudiness and the chances of rain, mainly in the South and East regions of the state.
After the cold front passes, a mass of polar air should drop temperatures in several areas of Central-South Brazil. In Minas, the effects should be felt mainly in the south of the state, where mornings may get colder at the beginning of next week.

The forecast indicates that Belo Horizonte should feel less intense effects from the system, while cities in the south of Minas are more likely to register an increase in clouds, isolated rain and a drop in temperatures.
For the rest of the state, the cold should not be as intense as that observed in the states of the Southern Region, but the change in weather should bring a lower thermal sensation compared to the last few days.
Rain is forecast across the country this Wednesday.
