Two women were injured after a car collided with a wall and caught fire on Avenida General Justo, in the center of Rio, in the early hours of this Wednesday (17). The accident happened at the Trevo dos Estudantes and caused a partial closure of the road. According to the Fire Department, the accident happened around 1 am. The victims, aged approximately 25 and 30, were rescued and taken to the Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital. There is still no information about their health status. Due to the accident, two lanes of the avenue were occupied and the lane towards the Mayor Marcello Alencar Tunnel was closed. Traffic is intense in the region, with impacts also towards the South Zone. City Hall teams were called to respond to the incident and guide drivers. Traffic had to be diverted to Avenida Presidente Antônio Carlos. Until the last update of this report, there was no information about the causes of the accident.
