From a bricklayer's assistant to the new rise of forró in less than two years, Léo Foguete has been winning over the Bahian public. The artist, who already has 10.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify, 4.1 million followers on Instagram, and a Grammy nomination, has eight shows scheduled in the state during the June festivities period.
The success may have been meteoric, but the dream is old. "It didn't happen overnight, right? It's been a long time, but when the first song happened, things happened quickly", said Léo.
Mayrllon de Castro Souza, known as Léo Foguete, started making cover videos with his friends singing forró pé de serra while he was still working as a bricklayer's assistant, still without the idea that life could change so much.

"I worked on a lot of things that weren't my dream, but that I'm very proud of where I came from. It was a lot of learning," he said.

Disclosure
His musical career began through a partnership with another well-known name: singer João Gomes. The two countrymen wrote together the song "Mais uma Noite", which was included on the album "De Norte a Sul", nominated for the Latin Grammy 2024, and from that point on Léo's career took off like a rocket.
Léo released his first solo song in 2024. "Última Noite" became an almost instant hit, and from then on the releases continued like this: always at the top of the platforms.
One of the first memorable moments of his career was participating in the Xand Avião show.
"As soon as I sang 'Last Night', which was the song that changed my life, I saw the crowd singing along, I started crying, I couldn't help it, I burst into tears. It was a very special moment", the artist fondly recalled.
Relationship with Bahia
In an interview with g1 Bahia, Léo Foguete was full of praise for Bahia. The artist says he has a very good relationship with the state and declared himself "almost Bahian".
"I was almost born from Bahia. I'm from Petrolina, stuck there with Juazeiro. With our neighbor Veveta, the main one" he joked.
His affection for Bahia goes beyond the stage, with some Bahian family members, Léo declared that Bahian cuisine is one of his favorites on the road.
"I love the whole culture of our country, but when we arrive in Bahia... Man, there are no couples, really", he revealed.

Partnerships and future
When talking about future partnerships, Léo Foguete does not hesitate to talk about his desire to collaborate with Bahian artists. The first on the list is Tony Salles.
"This guy is a phenomenon and I really want to do a project with him."
And the list continues with Ivete Sangalo, for whom admiration has been declared since before her musical career. In May of this year, Léo Foguete released a new single in which he re-recorded the song "Deixo", by the Bahian artist.
Country duos are also on Léo's list of desired partnerships: Jorge and Mateus, Matheus and Kaun, Henrique and Juliano.
