Man disappears in the Anauá river, in the interior of Roraima João Maria Guilherme Zeferino, 67 years old, disappeared in the Anauá River after his canoe sank this Sunday (14), in São Luiz do Anauá, in the south of Roraima. The accident occurred near Vicinal 13, in Vila Moderna. According to rescue teams, the elderly man was traveling in a canoe towards his family's farm when the vessel sank while crossing the river. A witness who was on the banks of the river reported that the canoe sank quickly. A woman who was also on the vessel managed to survive after swimming to shore and holding on to branches until she received help. The elderly man would have sunk along with the canoe and disappeared. The Roraima Military Fire Department and the Roraima Military Police were called to respond to the incident. For safety reasons, the dives could not be carried out at night. On Monday morning (15), a new team made up of divers and military support personnel resumed the search.
