The Ghanaian government appeared before the Federal Court of Canada on Tuesday June 16 to try to obtain the cancellation of the visa refusal to Thomas Partey, who will be tried for rape in 2027 in Great Britain, according to Canadian public media CBC. The hearing, scheduled for Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. GMT, comes after Ghana officially protested on Saturday against the decision of Canadian authorities to ban the entry of the Ghanaian midfielder. Former Arsenal player, currently at Villarreal, in Spain, Thomas Partey, 32, is currently unable to travel to Toronto, where Ghana will kick off their World Cup on Wednesday against Panama. Thomas Partey has pleaded not guilty to seven counts of rape and another count of sexual assault, in relation to accusations made by four women between 2020 and 2022, when he wore the Arsenal jersey (2020-2025).
