Snake appears on TV panel and is rescued from home in Vila Velha, Espírito Santo Reproduction/Social Media 🐍 What to do when you find a wild animal at home? The Environmental Military Police Battalion (BPMA) advises that, when encountering a wild animal, such as snakes, possums, alligators, birds or other animals, indoors or in urban areas, the main recommendation is not to try to capture or interact with it. Check out the guidelines: 🔸 Keep your distance: don't touch, don't provoke and don't try to capture the animal. This reduces the risk of accidents and avoids stress for the animal. 🔸 Observe from afar: if it is safe, keep the animal under observation to inform the rescue teams of its exact location. 🔸 Keep children and pets away: keep everyone away from the location until service arrives. 🔸 Don't offer food: feeding wild animals alters their natural behavior and can cause them to remain in urban areas. 📞 Who to contact? In Greater Vitória, the advice is to first contact the city's Municipal Environment Department, which has teams and equipment to collect these animals, speeding up service. The BPMA explains that its activities are primarily focused on combating environmental crimes and, therefore, it does not maintain exclusive teams on duty to collect wild animals. ⚠️ In risk situations, such as the presence of venomous snakes or medium and large felines, care becomes a priority and must be communicated immediately to the responsible bodies.
