Suspects of laundering money from drug trafficking for the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Bonde dos 40 factions, through shell companies and betting operators (bets), were arrested in Operation Soberania - National Convergence, carried out this Friday (16) by the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco) of the Public Ministry of Piauí (MPPI).
Until the publication of this report, ten people were preventively arrested and 15 search and seizure warrants were carried out in Água Branca, Altos, Angical do Piauí, Santo Antônio dos Milagres and São Gonçalo do Piauí. In addition to laundering and trafficking, they are investigated for criminal organizations and structured territorial control.

⚖️ Structured territorial dominance occurs when a criminal group exercises organized and continuous control over an area, imposing its own rules, exploring illegal activities and often replacing or challenging the authority of the State in that territory.

Gaeco's deputy coordinator, prosecutor William Luz, stated that criminal groups are disputing control of territories in the Médio Parnaíba region and leaving "dozens of dead" in the process.
This Friday's operation was the first action based on the Anti-Faction Law, approved by Congress and sanctioned by President Lula (PT) in March, in Piauí.
