A 26-year-old nurse who jumped shortly after Maria Eduarda told the police that she helped the young woman and tried to revive her. She stated that she got off the bridge, found the victim with a weak pulse and performed a heart massage, but the victim's pulse stopped. The place has a history of accidents. On Monday night (15), the federal government said it was considering "removing" the bridge. The information was released after the Union Heritage Secretariat (SPU) held meetings with the city halls of Limeira and Cordeirópolis to discuss possible measures. "SPU will continue to discuss with local governments a definitive solution for the aforementioned bridge, which could involve eventual removal." According to the SPU, both city halls support the possibility of imploding the deactivated structure. Initial investigations indicate that there was never authorization to perform rope jumps at the location. The modality also does not have defined regulations in the country. Because of this, the Union Heritage Secretariat said that ditches must be reopened at the site to prevent access. Also according to the ministry, the Union Heritage Superintendency in São Paulo (SPU-SP) committed to placing warning signs and installing physical barriers. "The SPU reaffirms that the transfer of the bridge to the Union's Heritage under the management of the Secretariat was made official in May, that it never authorized any activity on that bridge and that dialogue and partnership between federated entities is the way to manage spaces for common use", he added, in a note. What city halls say Limeira City Hall In a statement, Limeira City Hall said that activity at the site has always been prohibited and requested that the Union demolish the structure, in addition to investigation by the Federal Police into future activities publicized on social media. The municipal administration also stated that, during the meeting with the federal government, it presented the measures already adopted since 2024 to prevent access to the bridge, including the installation of warning signs, blocking access and opening ditches. He highlighted, however, that part of the entries occur through private properties. "We are dealing with an area that presents known risks for many years and that continues to attract people even though it is closed. The implosion of the structure will be a definitive solution to avoid new incidents and guarantee the safety of the population", stated the city's mayor, Murilo Félix (Podemos). Cordeirópolis City Hall In a meeting with the SPU this Monday, the City of Cordeirópolis defended the demolition of the Skeletor Bridge and guaranteed that it will reinforce the blocking of access to the structure.
