Liberal Democratic Party, Meiji Restoration, Citizens, and Suffrage jointly submitted bill for criminal damage to national flag

Four political parties, the Liberal Democratic Party, the Ishin Democratic Party, and the Democratic Party of Japan, jointly submitted a bill to the Diet that would penalize the act of damaging the Japanese national flag. Some provisions were removed from the original bill in light of the need to give consideration to freedom of expression, and the four parties hope to pass the bill in the current Diet session.
