A man was arrested in Valinhos (SP) for illegal possession of a weapon, this Tuesday (16), during the execution of a search and seizure warrant from Operation Torneira, from the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco). The action, carried out jointly by Gaeco de Campinas (SP) and Araçatuba (SP), has the support of the Military Police and the Civil Police. The objective is to combat organized crime, with a focus on interstate drug trafficking and money laundering. The investigations began after the identification of a group of drug traffickers linked to the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) that operates in the Jundiaí (SP) region. Those under investigation often met in an area known as Torneira, which gave its name to the operation. According to the investigation, financial transactions were identified which, together, amount to around R$230 million. The investigations also identified a money laundering scheme used by drug traffickers.
