The President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, was received on Sunday June 14, 2026, in Jerusalem, by his Israeli counterpart, Isaac Herzog. It was the first official state visit by a Somaliland chief executive abroad. This meeting comes after Israel's decision to recognize Somaliland as an “independent and sovereign state” on December 26, 2025. A first on the international scene since the secession of this territory from Somalia in 1991. This Monday, June 15, the president of Somaliland inaugurated a new embassy for his country in Jerusalem.
