The influence of the Muslim Brotherhood has declined in recent years in a number of Arab countries, after it was banned or classified as a terrorist organization in some of them and its political presence declined in others. But Sudan seems to be an exception. The war reshaped a network of military, security, and political alliances that placed the group at the heart of one of the most complex crises in the region.
