Alison Martins For four days, the Congress will host international and national speakers. "The theme chosen for this year is “Uniting genetic counseling and precision medicine”, which perfectly translates the geneticist doctor's role in comprehensively understanding the clinical needs of patients with genetic diseases and rare conditions and their families. The theme also celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Brazilian Society of Medical Genetics and Genomics (SBGM), which throughout its history has accompanied and led the transition of genetic care in the country, with the advancement of therapies, telemedicine and precision medicine, always keeping care at the center with patients, families and genetic counseling”, says the president of SBGM, dr. Ida Vanessa D. Schwartz. “The SBGM congresses are itinerant and, for the first time, will arrive in Maranhão, reaffirming the commitment to the internalization of knowledge in medical genetics in Brazil and its effective incorporation into the health system”, he adds. We recognize that expanding access to genomics as a health promotion strategy must occur in an equitable manner. Therefore, in a Brazil marked by disparities, holding our congress again in the Northeast region, as happened last year, reinforces SBGM's commitment to training human resources and mobilizing institutions, in order to promote access to quality medical genetics for the entire community.” Registration open and tickets available To participate in the 37th Congress, simply register on the event's official website, www.cbgm2026.com.br, where the second batch of tickets and a preview of the program and international speakers have just been released.
