Metro collector brings together albums from all World Cups With the start of the 2026 World Cup, the traditional race for stickers is once again mobilizing fans across the country. Expressions like “I almost completed my album” and “I have thousands of repeats” reappear in the daily lives of Brazilians, reinforcing a habit that crosses generations. In the São Paulo Metro, this passion has a first and last name. A Metro commuter since 1992, Wilson Moura is a collector of sticker albums from the tournament and has a complete collection of all editions of the world championship. The collection includes albums from the first World Cup, held in 1930. According to Moura, the copies of the editions played between 1930 and 1986 are reproductions of imported albums, obtained after years of research. The albums from 1990 onwards are original and were created by him over the last few decades. In total, the collection contains around 10 thousand stickers and has become a record of the history of world football. The interest in collecting began during the 1982 World Cup, played in Spain. That year, Moura completed his first album. “The stickers came inside Ping Pong gum packaging”, he recalls. The Brazilian team from that edition left a special mark on the collector. "Falcão, Sócrates, Cerezo and Zico were references. Zico was a master at taking free kicks. We tried to imitate him in street games", he recalls. Since then, the hobby has become a commitment to the memory of the World Cups. In search of completing the collection, Moura searched for old albums abroad and gathered rare versions that help tell the evolution of football over the decades. For this World Cup, he decided to expand the collection even further. In addition to overseeing the creation of three albums — his own and those of his two children — he also completed the shirts for the 48 teams participating in the tournament. The habit of collecting began even before the World Cup albums. As a child, Moura also completed collections such as Turma da Disney, Turma da Mônica and the album “Paulistinha”, an initiative by the government of the State of São Paulo launched in the late 1970s that encouraged the exchange of invoices for stickers. Wilson Moura has been a metro worker since 1992 and has been collecting World Cup items since the first tournament Personal Archive
