Ueze Elias Zahran International Airport, in Campo Grande, resumed operations late this Monday morning (15) after improving visibility conditions. The heavy fog that covered the city in the early hours of the day caused the cancellation of landings and takeoffs, as well as delays in flights to and from the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul.
According to the concessionaire Aena, responsible for managing the terminal, operations were temporarily suspended as determined by the Control Tower due to adverse weather conditions. The measure follows security protocols coordinated by the Department of Airspace Control (Decea), a body linked to the Air Force.

During the restriction period, at least two arriving and two departing flights were cancelled. Among them were Latam and Gol operations to Guarulhos International Airport, in São Paulo, scheduled for 5:15 am and 5:20 am.
The fog also affected aircraft trying to land in Campo Grande. A flight that left São Paulo in the morning began the approach procedure, but had to turn around due to low visibility. The aircraft was diverted to Foz do Iguaçu (PR), where it refueled before awaiting further guidance.
At the terminal, passengers also faced delays. Retiree Waldomiro Souza reported that his flight to São Paulo, initially scheduled for 9:10 am, was rescheduled for early afternoon.
With the weather improving throughout the morning, operations were normalized and flights began to be carried out again.
Aena's guidance continues to be for passengers to check the status of their flights directly with the airlines before heading to the airport, as the flight network may undergo adjustments throughout the day.
Intense fog marked the beginning of the morning
Heavy fog significantly reduced visibility in several parts of Campo Grande this Monday. The sky was overcast and caused low visibility in the airport region, a scenario that led to the temporary suspension of air operations for safety reasons.
