The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), inaugurated this Monday (15) a state school in São José dos Campos built through a public-private partnership (PPP).
The unit is the first in Vale do Paraíba delivered using the model adopted by the state government to expand the school network. Located in the Vila Adriana neighborhood, in the southeast region of the city, the Roberto Burle Marx State School should begin accepting students in August.
The inauguration takes place less than three weeks before one of the restrictions foreseen in the electoral calendar. From July 4th, candidates are prohibited from attending public works inaugurations, in accordance with the rules of the Superior Electoral Court. On the same date, the hiring of artistic shows paid for with public resources for these events will also be prohibited.

In the PPP model, the private sector is responsible for building and maintaining the physical structure of the school. Pedagogical management, including hiring teachers, directing and defining educational content, remains the responsibility of the State.
During the inauguration ceremony, Tarcísio stated that the format allows principals and teachers to concentrate their efforts on pedagogical activities, while maintenance and infrastructure services are the responsibility of the concessionaire.
According to the state government, a second school in the region should also be built using the PPP model, in Atibaia. There is still no forecast for the delivery of the unit.
