A baby aged 2 months and 25 days was transferred by helicopter from Petrópolis, in the Serrana region of Rio, to the capital of Rio de Janeiro to undergo highly complex heart surgery. The operation was carried out on Wednesday (10) and mobilized teams from Petrópolis City Hall, the State Department of Health, Hospital Alcides Carneiro (HAC) and Samu.
Theodoro was born on March 21 at Alcides Carneiro Hospital and was admitted to the unit's Neonatal ICU. According to the Municipal Health Department, he had heart disease associated with extreme prematurity and was being monitored by the hospital's cardiology team.
After medical evaluation, the need for specialized surgical intervention was determined. The team requested a place at the Pedro Ernesto University Hospital (HUPE), in Rio de Janeiro, a reference for this type of procedure.

Theodoro had to be taken to the Pedro Ernesto University Hospital, in Rio.
Disclosure
To facilitate the transfer, an aerial operation was set up in partnership with the State Department of Health. The aircraft used landed on the Esporte Clube Corrêas field.
Transport to the helicopter required a special structure, with the use of a mobile ICU and a neonatal transport incubator. The action involved professionals from HAC and the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu).
According to city hall, the baby has already undergone surgery and is recovering well. The family lives in the Estrada da Saudade region, in Petrópolis.
The municipal secretary of Health, Clarissa Rippel, highlighted the mobilization of the teams involved in the transfer.
"Every minute counts when we are dealing with the life of a newborn. Seeing this great chain of good work, involving everything from doctors and nurses to the social assistance team and pilots, fills us with pride and hope", he stated.
